PORTLAND AREA TEENS, PLEASE READ ON...
I'm trying to change the way things are for teens, and I have dozens of teenagers backing me up. Some of them may even go to your school, and I hope you'll become part of the team as well. We need to improve the way justice system and some adults treat teens. I'm 31, and I've taught and tutored since I was 16. I've been on TV and radio all over the country -- over 25 times. I've written 27 newspaper articles in the last year about how to help teens. I:
- Made sure a 17-year-old didn't get kicked out of school, even though a principal assured me I'd lose.
- Helped throw the plans for a juvenile jail in Maryland off track.
- Wrote two articles in West Virginia, and the state's Deputy Director of Juvenile Justice called me the next morning.
- Have had TEENS notice my articles from as far away as North Carolina and call me for advice.
And.... My Facebook page, Speak Out for Teens, has over 3,700 fans in less than two months -- from 35 countries and speaking 20 languages. This stuff is huge. You're not alone in feeling as you do about the way things are. But we I need you -- not just people like you. YOU. At my presentation on March 13.
